Vietnam Wall
Names etched endlessly
The Vietnam Wall is the informal name for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.—a long, black granite wall inscribed with the names of American service members who died or went missing in the Vietnam War.
Visitors touch names, make rubbings, and leave mementos.
We found my uncle's name on the Vietnam Wall.
The design, by Maya Lin, was controversial when unveiled in 1982 but has become one of America's most visited and emotionally powerful memorials.
