Universal monsters

Universal monsters refers to the classic horror characters from films produced by Universal Pictures, primarily during the 1930s and 1940s: Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, the Mummy, the Wolf Man, the Invisible Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

These figures established the visual vocabulary of movie monsters and remain cultural touchstones: a Universal monsters marathon, Halloween costumes inspired by the Universal monsters.

The term distinguishes these particular versions from their literary sources and later adaptations.
