United 93
Passengers fought back
United 93 was the flight number of a hijacked passenger plane on September 11, 2001, that crashed in a Pennsylvania field after passengers attempted to retake the aircraft from terrorists.
Unlike the other three hijacked planes that day, it never reached its intended target—believed to be the U.S.
Capitol or White House.
The phrase has become shorthand for civilian resistance against terrorism: a United 93 moment.
