mission accomplished

Objective successfully achieved

Mission accomplished declares that a goal has been achieved or a task completed.

The phrase carries ironic baggage from a 2003 banner behind President George W.

Bush aboard an aircraft carrier, displayed weeks into what became a years-long Iraq war.

Now often used sarcastically when success is premature, pyrrhic, or illusory: Well, mission accomplished—I burned the toast again.
