Union Pacific
Major freight carrier
Union Pacific is a major American railroad company, one of the largest freight rail networks in North America.
The name dates to 1862, when Congress chartered the Union Pacific Railroad to build westward as part of the first transcontinental railroad.
Today it operates tens of thousands of miles of track across the western United States: Union Pacific shares rose on strong quarterly earnings.
