The Blair Witch Project
The Blair Witch Project is a 1999 American horror film presented as documentary footage left behind by three student filmmakers who disappeared while investigating a local legend.
The film pioneered the found-footage genre and viral marketing, achieving massive commercial success on a minimal budget.
Its influence appears whenever shaky handheld camerawork signals authenticity or dread: Every found-footage horror movie owes something to The Blair Witch Project.
