Suede

"Animal Nitrate" performers

Suede is leather with a soft, napped surface, made from the inner side of animal hide.

The texture is velvety rather than smooth: suede shoes, a suede jacket.

Suede requires more care than regular leather—it stains easily and doesn't handle water well.

The word comes from French *gants de Suède*, "gloves from Sweden."
