Sioux Nation
Lakota Dakota Nakota
The Sioux Nation is a confederation of Native American peoples indigenous to the Great Plains of North America, comprising three major divisions: the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota.
Historically powerful and fiercely resistant to U.S. expansion, the Sioux are associated with figures like Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse and events like the Battle of Little Bighorn.
Today the nation includes several federally recognized tribes across reservations in the Dakotas, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Montana.
