Secret Garden

Concealed private oasis

A secret garden is a hidden or private outdoor space, often walled or enclosed, associated with solitude, refuge, and personal transformation.

The phrase gained currency from Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1911 novel about a neglected garden that heals its discoverers.

Figuratively, a secret garden is any private realm of imagination, memory, or emotion that someone keeps protected from others: Her poetry was a secret garden she rarely shared.
