Saint George's Day
Dragon-slayer's annual celebration
Saint George's Day is a feast day honoring Saint George, the patron saint of England, celebrated annually on April 23rd.
The day commemorates the legendary dragon-slaying knight and Christian martyr, though celebrations in England tend to be more subdued than comparable national saint's days elsewhere.
Some mark the occasion with displays of the red-and-white Saint George's Cross flag, morris dancing, or events at pubs and churches.
The village held its annual Saint George's Day parade.
