Redd Foxx

Redd Foxx was the stage name of American comedian John Elroy Sanford (1922–1991), known for raunchy stand-up comedy and the sitcom *Sanford and Son*, where he played a cantankerous junk dealer.

His name sometimes appears as a cultural reference point for Black comedy or for feigning a heart attack—his character's signature bit: He's doing a Redd Foxx.
