Pushto
Kabul's native tongue
Pushto is an alternative spelling of Pashto, the Iranian language spoken by roughly 50 million people, primarily in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It is one of Afghanistan's two official languages alongside Dari.
The spelling Pushto reflects an older transliteration convention; Pashto is now more common in English-language contexts.
He learned Pushto while serving in Kandahar.
