Port wine
Portuguese dessert drink
Port wine is a sweet, fortified wine from Portugal's Douro Valley.
The wine is strengthened with grape brandy during fermentation, which stops the process early and preserves natural sugars.
Port comes in several styles—ruby port is young and fruity, tawny port is aged in barrels and nutty, vintage ports and vintage-dated ports represent exceptional years.
Traditionally served after dinner with cheese or dessert: Would you like a glass of port?
