Persil
European soap maker
Persil is a brand of laundry detergent, one of the oldest and most recognized in Europe.
The name comes from two French words for key ingredients in the original formula: perborate and silicate.
In British usage, Persil sometimes appears generically for any laundry detergent, much as Americans use Kleenex for tissues.
