persisters
Ones who continue
Persisters are those who persist—who continue despite difficulty or opposition.
The term appears in scientific contexts for organisms or cells that survive treatment meant to eliminate them: bacteria that persist through antibiotic exposure are called persisters.
More generally, it describes anyone who keeps going when others quit: The persisters in the program eventually graduated.
