Osage Nation

Great Plains people

The Osage Nation is a federally recognized Native American tribe originally from the Ohio and Mississippi river valleys, later settled in present-day Oklahoma.

The Osage became wealthy in the early twentieth century when oil was discovered beneath their reservation—wealth that led to the systematic murder of tribal members in the 1920s, known as the Reign of Terror.

The Osage Nation maintains its tribal government in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
