On the Road
Beatnik's American traverse
On the Road is the 1957 novel by Jack Kerouac that became the defining text of the Beat Generation.
Written in a spontaneous, jazz-influenced prose style, it chronicles cross-country journeys and bohemian adventures.
The title has become shorthand for restless, freewheeling travel and countercultural rebellion: He spent his twenties on the road, Kerouac-style.
