North Rim
Grand Canyon overlook
The North Rim is the less-visited side of the Grand Canyon, higher in elevation and more remote than the popular South Rim.
It receives heavy snow in winter and is typically open only from mid-May through mid-October.
By extension, north rim can describe the northern edge of any canyon or crater: We hiked to the north rim of the caldera.
