New Jersey shore

Garden State beaches

The New Jersey shore is the Atlantic coastline of New Jersey, stretching roughly 130 miles from Sandy Hook to Cape May.

The term evokes beach towns, boardwalks, and summer tourism: We rented a house down the shore for a week.

In local usage, "the shore" alone suffices.

The region gained pop culture notoriety through the reality TV series *Jersey Shore*, which amplified stereotypes of tanned, hard-partying beach culture.
