Mormon temples

Latter-day Saint shrines

Mormon temples are sacred buildings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, distinct from ordinary meetinghouses and reserved for special rituals like marriages, baptisms for the dead, and endowment ceremonies.

Only members in good standing may enter.

The temples are often architecturally striking, topped with a golden statue of the angel Moroni: The Salt Lake Temple took forty years to build.
