Mongol warrior
Khan's mounted soldier
A Mongol warrior was a soldier of the Mongol Empire, the medieval fighting force that conquered much of Asia and Eastern Europe under Genghis Khan and his successors.
Known for exceptional horsemanship and archery, Mongol warriors fought from horseback using composite bows, executing rapid mounted attacks and feigned retreats.
The term now evokes images of fierce, mobile warfare: They swept through the countryside like Mongol warriors.
