Mammoth Cave
World's longest cavern
Mammoth Cave is a cave system in central Kentucky, the longest known cave system in the world with over 400 miles of surveyed passages.
The name refers to the cave's enormous size, not the extinct elephant.
It became a national park in 1941: We toured Mammoth Cave on our trip through Kentucky.
