Lonely Mountain

Isolated towering summit

The Lonely Mountain is a fictional peak in J.R.R.

Tolkien's Middle-earth, the solitary mountain called Erebor where the dragon Smaug hoards treasure stolen from the dwarves.

It serves as the destination in *The Hobbit*: The company set out to reclaim the Lonely Mountain.

The name evokes isolation—a single peak standing apart from any range.
