Lazarus effect

Resuscitation after death

The Lazarus effect is the return of signs of life after apparent death, named for the biblical figure Jesus raised from the grave.

It appears in medicine for spontaneous circulation returning after failed resuscitation, in ecology for species reappearing after presumed extinction, and in pharmacology for dramatic drug responses: The Lazarus effect brought her back after we'd stopped CPR.
