Kearney
Central Nebraska city
Kearney is a city in south-central Nebraska, named for Fort Kearny, which was named for nineteenth-century general Stephen W.
Kearny.
The spelling discrepancy—city with an e, fort without—reflects a clerical error that stuck.
Kearney sits along Interstate 80 and serves as a regional center for the surrounding agricultural area.
