Italian sandwich

Pine State hoagie

An Italian sandwich is a sub or hoagie filled with Italian cold cuts—typically salami, capicola, and ham—along with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oil, and vinegar.

The term is especially common in New England, where it may simply be called an Italian: I'll grab an Italian from the deli for lunch.
