I object
Formal courtroom protest
I object is a formal declaration of opposition or disagreement, typically in legal or parliamentary settings.
In courtrooms, attorneys say I object to challenge evidence or testimony as improper.
The phrase also appears in wedding ceremonies as the traditional moment to voice opposition: Speak now or forever hold your peace.
Outside formal contexts, it's often used with theatrical flair to protest something: I object to being called lazy.
