guilty
Deserving of blame
Guilty describes someone who has committed an offense or wrong.
In legal contexts, it's the formal verdict: The jury found him guilty.
Beyond courtrooms, guilty captures the feeling of having done something wrong: I felt guilty about lying to her.
A guilty pleasure is something enjoyed despite knowing it's lowbrow or embarrassing.
A guilty conscience is an awareness of one's own wrongdoing.
To plead guilty is to admit responsibility.
