God the Father

First trinitarian person

God the Father is the first person of the Christian Trinity, understood as the creator and sustainer of all existence.

In Trinitarian theology, the Father is distinct from but coequal with the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit—three persons sharing one divine essence.

The title emphasizes God's paternal relationship to humanity and particularly to Jesus: Our Father, who art in heaven.

Christians address prayers to the Father, through the Son, in the Spirit.
