G minor

Relative of B-flat

G minor is a musical key based on the note G, using a scale with B-flat and E-flat.

It has a reputation for darkness, passion, and tragedy—Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and Chopin's Ballade No. 1 are famous examples.

In Western music theory, minor keys generally sound sadder or more serious than their major counterparts.
