French Open
Clay court championship
The French Open is one of the four major annual tennis tournaments, played on clay courts at Roland Garros in Paris.
Along with the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open, it forms the Grand Slam.
The red clay surface favors baseline players and produces longer rallies than hard courts or grass: Nadal has dominated the French Open like no other player in tennis history.
