Finnegan
Wake's sleeping protagonist
Finnegan is an Irish surname, from a name meaning "fair" or "white." It appears in the title of James Joyce's notoriously difficult novel *Finnegans Wake* and in the folk song "Finnegan's Wake," about a man who revives at his own funeral when whiskey splashes on him.
As a given name, Finnegan has gained popularity, often shortened to Finn.
