Eppendorf is a brand of laboratory equipment, especially the small plastic tubes used to hold liquid samples in biology and chemistry labs.
The name has become genericized—scientists routinely call any such microcentrifuge tube an Eppendorf regardless of manufacturer: Pipette 100 microliters into an Eppendorf.
The company also makes pipettes, centrifuges, and other lab instruments.
