Eid gifts
Festival giving tradition
Eid gifts are presents exchanged during the Islamic holidays of Eid al-Fitr (marking the end of Ramadan) and Eid al-Adha (the Festival of Sacrifice).
Adults traditionally give money or gifts to children, though gift-giving among family and friends is common: The kids couldn't wait to open their Eid gifts.
The practice parallels Christmas gift-giving in Christian cultures.
