Dr. Zhivago

Dr.

Zhivago is a 1957 novel by Boris Pasternak, following a Russian physician and poet through the upheavals of the early twentieth century—revolution, civil war, and Stalinist repression.

The Soviet government banned the book; Pasternak was forced to decline the Nobel Prize it earned him.

The 1965 film adaptation, with its sweeping romance and frozen landscapes, made Dr. Zhivago synonymous with epic love stories set against historical turmoil.
