Democratic convention
Nominee selection event
A Democratic convention is a formal gathering of the Democratic Party, most notably the national convention held every four years to nominate the party's presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
Delegates from each state cast votes based on primary and caucus results.
The convention also adopts the party platform and generates media attention for the campaign: The Democratic convention will be held in Chicago this year.
