A Deadhead is a devoted fan of the rock band the Grateful Dead, known for following the band on tour and embracing the countercultural lifestyle associated with their music: Deadheads traded bootleg tapes in the parking lot before every show.
The term emerged in the 1970s and remains in use among fans who gather for tribute acts and archival releases. (Lowercase deadhead refers to spent flowers or empty transport runs.)
