DPT vaccine
Triple bacterial shot
DPT vaccine is a combination vaccine that protects against diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), and tetanus—three serious bacterial diseases.
Given as a series of shots in infancy and childhood, with boosters later in life.
Also called DTP vaccine.
The newer DTaP formulation uses an acellular pertussis component with fewer side effects.
