Chicken Littles
Doomsayers without cause
Chicken Littles are people who spread unnecessary alarm about exaggerated or imaginary dangers, from the folk tale character who believed the sky was falling after an acorn hit his head.
The term is dismissive: Climate skeptics call environmentalists Chicken Littles.
The singular Chicken Little describes an individual alarmist or the tendency itself: Don't be a Chicken Little.
