Chicken Little
Sky-falling alarmist
Chicken Little is a character from a folk tale who, struck by a falling acorn, concludes the sky is falling and spreads panic.
The name labels anyone who raises alarms about unlikely catastrophes or exaggerates minor problems into existential threats: Climate skeptics dismissed him as a Chicken Little.
The story warns against both unfounded fear and the danger of ignoring legitimate warnings.
