Chianti wine
Italian red bottle
Chianti is a dry red wine from the Chianti region of Tuscany, Italy, traditionally made primarily from Sangiovese grapes.
It ranges from light and fruity to more structured versions aged in oak.
Chianti Classico, from the historic central zone, is considered the benchmark.
The wine was once associated with straw-wrapped bottles called fiaschi, now mostly decorative: We ordered a bottle of Chianti with the pasta.
