C-sections
Abdominal birth procedures
A C-section (properly called a Caesarean section) is an operation to deliver a baby through an incision in the mother’s abdomen.
C-sections are sometimes planned in advance when it is likely that a vaginal delivery would be dangerous for the mother or child.
C-sections are also performed in an emergency when a vaginal delivery is unsuccessful.
