Canadian dollar
Ottawa's official money
The Canadian dollar is the official currency of Canada, often called the loonie after the loon depicted on the one-dollar coin.
In financial contexts, it's abbreviated CAD to distinguish it from other dollars: The Canadian dollar weakened against the euro.
Informally, Canadians just call it the dollar.
