Blackheath
Southeast London heath
Blackheath refers to several places in England and Australia, most notably a district in southeast London straddling the boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich.
The London Blackheath is characterized by a large open heath and has historical significance as a gathering point for peasant rebellions and a staging ground for armies.
It is also the name of a village in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia.
The name derives from the dark color of the soil or heathland.
