Misbehaving holiday figure
A Bad Santa is someone dressed as Santa Claus who behaves inappropriately—drinking, cursing, or acting lewdly rather than jolly and wholesome.
The term gained currency from the 2003 film of that name, featuring a department store Santa who robs shopping malls.
Bad Santa events, where participants pub-crawl in Santa costumes, have become annual traditions in many cities: The Bad Santa bar crawl got out of hand last year.
