B-picture

Low-budget studio production

A B-picture is a low-budget film, originally one shown as the second feature in a double bill during Hollywood's studio era.

The term now describes any cheaply made movie, often genre fare like horror or science fiction: The studio churned out B-pictures to fill theater schedules.

Also called a B-movie.
