3D glasses
Movie theater eyewear
3D glasses are eyewear that creates the illusion of depth when viewing specially formatted images or films.
Different technologies use different mechanisms—older anaglyph glasses have one red and one blue lens, while modern polarized or active-shutter glasses work with digital projectors.
The effect tricks the brain into perceiving flat images as three-dimensional: The theater handed out 3D glasses at the door.
