The 100 yard dash is a sprint race covering 100 yards (91.44 meters), once the standard short sprint in American and British track and field.
It has largely been replaced by the 100 meter dash in international competition, but the term persists in casual use and American high school athletics: He ran the 100 yard dash in under ten seconds.
