Sprinter's final target
The finish tape is the ribbon or strip stretched across the end of a racecourse, broken by the winner's body as they cross the finish line.
Also called the finishing tape or finish-line tape.
The image extends to any final barrier marking completion: She broke through the finish tape on her dissertation.
