willowherb
Pink meadow colonizer
Willowherb is any of several plants in the genus *Epilobium*, named for their willow-like leaves.
The most familiar is rosebay willowherb (also called fireweed), a tall plant with spikes of pink or purple flowers that colonizes disturbed ground—roadsides, burned areas, bombed sites.
Willowherb had overtaken the abandoned lot.
